The Pop Up Shop Agents first met artist and small business owner, Mandy McKenna when researching sellers for Pop Up Horsham and worked with her to showcase her products in-store including opportunities to live paint in the window.
Mandy from Mandy McKenna Designs is a pop up shop seller veteran, previously popping up in stores and markets selling artwork and products created in paint, clay, painted furniture and textiles.
Highlighting the importance of colour therapy in the home, Mandy’s products offer an exciting array of hand-painted items to add a ‘pop’ of colour and character to a home or business.
As Mandy has experience selling in pop up shops, The Pop Up Shop Agents were keen to understand her feelings about selling in Pop Up Horsham.
Mandy said: “It has been very successful for me, definitely as a small business but as a maker and an artist as well. It’s very difficult selling your products and making your products. So, the location is really important. You need the footfall of regular people which you get on the High Street.”
“So in the past, I have always done fairs. In different locations which have been successful, but it is the constant packing, unpacking, displaying and hoping that people will come to it. Whereas the High Street people generally come to shop.”
She added: “So, my future is to continue with Pop Up Shops. I think it’s definitely the way forward for small businesses to be on the High Street at an affordable price.”
